Disputes happen in every course of life. It is important to resolve them effectively to overcome the obstacle and move on in life. During a dispute both the parties have a point of view different from each other that they fail to understand. Such clashing views mostly lead to a fight. For this purpose many prefer to call a mediator to resolve a dispute. A mediator does not act like a judge but just helps the parties to communicate their point of views to each other. There are many disputes that can be solved with the help of a mediator like Conflict mediation, Labor dispute, Neighbors Quarrel, Divorce Mediation (Echtscheidingsmediation), Conflict resolution and Construction Dispute (Bouwgeschil).

There are few things on needs to remember about Mediation –

• A mediator is appointed to solve disputes only after the parties agree to do so
• This is a voluntary process, which means either of the parties can stop it whenever they choose to
• The mediator is neutral and impartial
• A mediation session can take place either with both the parties or individually. If the mediator meets the parties individually then some issues discussed can be kept confidential as per the request of the party.

• A mediator can be used when direct negotiation fails or when parties do not like each other
• This is not a therapy
• It is rare that a case is unresolved through mediation. But in such a case the parties can try arbitration.

As we know mediation can be used to resolve various matters like Conflict mediation, Labor dispute, Neighbors Quarrel, Divorce Mediation, Conflict resolution and Construction Dispute. But every mediator picks a different approach to solve any case coming his/ her way.

Facilitative approach –
This is a traditional way of mediation. In this process the mediator questions the parties, evaluates their answers, seeks similar interests and finds an option to resolve the dispute. Also he/she will not make any sort of recommendations, render opinions, or predict the future result of the course.

Evaluative approach –
In this process the mediator helps the parties by analyzing the strength and weakness of the case. Also the mediator can provide his/ her opinion to what the judge might say about the case.

Transformative –
The process is based on the concept of empowering the parties and encouraging mutual understanding of each other’s needs, interest and point of view. This does not happen in caucus. Transformative method focuses on interactions of the parties.

Narrative –
In this process the mediator encourages the parties to explain their view of the conflict through discussion and conversation. This is done through story telling. After the stories are done the mediator uses them as the basis of discussion. The main aim is to form a third story to replace the conflict and results in an agreement and better future communication.

The above mentioned process have been extremely effective in solving problems like Conflict mediation, Labor dispute, Neighbors Quarrel (Burenruzie), Divorce Mediation, Conflict resolution and Construction Dispute.
